Donna Jean (Harder) Shogren, age 84, of Frederic, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. Born on October 10, 1941, in Plymouth, Wisconsin, Donna lived a life filled with love, faith, and creativity.
Donna graduated from Plymouth Senior High School in 1959. Following her graduation, she pursued her passion for beauty and enrolled at The Marvel School of Beauty Culture in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She completed the program in June of 1960 and began a career that reflected her dedication to helping others feel their best.
Donna married Loren Shogren February 8th, 1964, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and shared traditions. She was the proud mother of Kristen Shogren and Jaymi Shogren-Mikla (Chris Mikla), as well as the late Karen Shogren. Donna cherished her role as a grandmother to Alexander Kaphingst and bonus grandson Atticus Mikla. Her family extended further to include her brother Steven Harder (Donna Harder); niece Leah Harder (Steve Schmitz) and their daughters Ivy and Ruby; nephew Max Harder; nephews Michael Harder (Katy Harder) and their children Mike and Mallory, Steven Harder (Angela Harder) and their children Austin and Nicole; Tony Treviranus (Kelli Treviranus) and brother Charles Harder. Donna was predeceased by her parents Ruth (Steinhardt) Harder and Harold Harder.
A woman of many talents and interests, Donna found joy in the arts. She loved to draw, sketch, and paint—expressing herself through creativity. She also enjoyed crafting Advent Wreaths with her husband Loren. She also had a deep appreciation for literature, particularly mysteries by authors such as Dean Koontz, John Grisham, James Patterson, and John Sanford. Donna’s artistic spirit extended into her holiday traditions; she delighted in baking Christmas cookies, bars, fudge, and preparing homemade Manhattan-Style Clam Chowder. Easter held special significance for Donna as it symbolized the hope and resurrection of Jesus Christ—a cornerstone of her faith.
Faith played an integral role in Donna’s life. She served in the Ladies Guild and sang in the church choir at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Forest Lake, Minnesota. After relocating with Loren to Frederic, Wisconsin in 2000, they became devoted members of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Cumberland, Wisconsin. Donna’s love for God was evident not only in her service but also in how she cared for those around her.
Donna had a remarkable ability to remember birthdays and anniversaries—always acknowledging these milestones with thoughtful greeting cards that brought joy to others. Her kindness extended beyond family to friends, neighbors, former neighbors, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Donna will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, devotion to family and faith, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. Her memory will live on through the love she shared with so many.
