Diethard Helmut Bergk Obituary

Diethard Helmut Bergk, beloved husband, father, brother, Opa and Great Opa, passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2026 at the age of 87.

Diethard was born on February 19, 1939 in Roessel Germany, to Eduard Bergk and Elsa Erna Eva Bergk (Krebs)

Diethard’s childhood was spent in Roessel Germany where he and his brothers attended school.  He was trained in the Tool and Die industry in his home country.  Once he and his family moved to the U.S. he immediately found a job working in that field.  He soon found long term employment at Eaton Corporation where he worked for over 50 years.  He enjoyed his work and continued his education in that field, working his way up to middle management prior to retirement.

He was a joyful and active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington for over thirty years.  One of his greatest passions was his Christian faith and sharing the gospel.  He loved singing, so he and his wife, Sharon sang beautifully together in their church choir.  He also had a passion for dancing, but the dance he and Sharon loved the most was square dancing.  Through square dancing they had a wonderful time traveling around the country with their square dancing club.  After retirement he joined committees and social groups at his beloved co-op.  His mind was always focused on serving his community, his church and enjoying the company of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon, his parents, Eduard and Elsa Bergk, and his brother, Guenther Bergk

He is survived by his daughter, Diana Orcutt (Jim), his son Derrick Bergk (Kirsten), his grandchildren, Patrick Orcutt and Lydia Bergk, his great granddaughter, Ellah Orcutt, his brother, Juergen Bergk as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at St Luke’s Lutheran Church of Bloomington, 1701 W Old Shakopee Rd. Bloomington, MN 55431.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the Celebration service at 2:00 PM.  Desserts will follow the service.
