Szczech, Donald Eugene 

Age 90, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by Claudette, his beloved wife of 63 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Sr. and Nellie (Keech) Szczech; his brothers, Stanley Jr. and Gerald (Jerry); his sister, Delores (Szczech) Hansen; and Robert Jungwirth. A Dunwoody Institute graduate, Don served in the Army as an MP. He began his career in the printing industry and spent most of his career as director at the Graphic Arts Institute. Don was a proud union supporter and member of the Graphic Communication International Union (GCIU), reflecting his belief in hard work and standing together to help others and build a better life for all. Donny loved golf and worked at Valleywood Golf Course in Apple Valley after retirement. He also loved dogs, people, jokes, and storytelling. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, passing his love of the outdoors on to his children. Don and Claudette wintered in Florida and spent summers with family and friends—at home, on the golf course, or at the lake. He is survived by his children, Don Jr., Kristine (Valerie), and Stephanie, as well as his beloved grand dogs. Special thank yous to Tina Ireton with Minnesota Hospice; and also a special thank you to Stephanie for her loving care of Dad after Mom’s passing. She is truly his angel. 

A service will occur at the Church of the Assumption on Thursday April 16th (51 7th St W, St Paul, MN 55102) at 10AM, with a visitation at 9AM. Luncheon to follow at another location.
