Charles Kennedy Running Jr. was born in Minneapolis, MN to Charles Kennedy Running Sr. and Florence Elizabeth Running (Hart).
He graduated from Washburn High School, where he made lifelong friendships. He proudly served in the United States Army, in the Vietnam war. He worked for the City of Minneapolis as a union cement finisher for 30 years, then retired with his wife, Lora, to their lake home in Otter Tail County.
Charlie was passionate about family, friends, fishing and politics. His larger-than-life presence will be profoundly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Florence Running, and sister-in-law Dalen (Bunny) Swinburne Running. He is survived by his loving wife Lora Quenemoen-Running, son Jethrol Quenemoen, daughter Kelly Running, grandson Taj Esalen, sister Alyce Dillon (Running), nephews David and Charles Dillion. Charlie’s brother William (Bill) Running passed the day after him.
Services for Charlie and Bill will be held at Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55408 on Friday, April 17, 2026. Visitation starts at 12:30pm and service starts at 1:00pm Following the service there will be a celebration of life at the Fred Babcock VFW, 6715 Lake Shore Drive South, Richfield MN 55423 at 3:30pm
