Richard Harold "Dick" Seeler Obituary

Richard Harold “Dick” Seeler, AKA Poppi, Daad, Old Fart, Papa, Poppason, Poppers, and forever Grandpa HoHo,  passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on October 19, 2025. Preceded in death by the two great loves of his life Marilyn (wife),  Joan (mother of their six children), David (son),  Harold and Marcella (parents), Gordon (brother). Survived by his loving children, Diane (Leslie) Madison, Debra (Geoff) Haraway, Dan (Kris), Donna (John) Norman, DeeDee (Mike) Pehrson. Also, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.


Dick was born on December 20, 1929, graduated from Cretin High School in 1947 as class Salutatorian and Cadet Colonel. He went on to college, graduating from the University of MN in 1951. In addition, he spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Naval Reserve.


Dick’s business career culminated with his retirement from 20 years as Business Manager in a variety of fields as Director of Western Real Estate for Talbot’s of Boston. He loved his friends and work associates at Talbot’s.


Dick lived an honorable life, defined by his love for and devotion to his family, his cherished friends, and his unyielding commitment to his core values. He lived his life with laughter and love each day. He was a great family man, friend, mentor, providing a lifetime of guidance and counsel. He had an incredible mind with a quick wit and a gift as an eloquent speaker. He was a kind man filled with patience and generosity.


Dad will be remembered as one of the good guys. See you later…never goodbye.


A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 3 – 6 PM with a special toast and short service at 430 PM, at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre (Carver Room), 501 W 78th Street, Chanhassen, MN. In lieu of flowers please send donations to PROP Shop and Planned Parenthood.
