Jean Johnson Haefner, age 86, of Richfield, MN passed away peacefully at her residence with her daughters by her side on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Jean was born on July 27, 1939, at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Bernadine (Mee) and Raymond A. Johnson.  She graduated High School from Good Council Academy, Mankato, MN in 1957 and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mankato State College in 1961. 

Jean married her best friend and love of her life, Edwin Haefner, on August 18, 1962. They raised their 3 children together in Bloomington, MN. She worked for Fairview Southdale Hospital for 38 years before retiring to her lake home on Birch Lake in Hackensack, MN in 2001.  

During her retirement, she enjoyed life “Up North,” became active in the Northwoods Arts Council and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Choir.

In 2018 she relocated to Havenwood of Richfield where she enjoyed living in the “Senior Dorm,” making new friends and enjoying the social activities offered.

Jean is survived by her daughters Amy (Kelly) Winkler and Michelle Jenson (David Budimir); grandchildren Cory (Laura) Winkler, Alyssa Winkler; and Great Grandson Colton Winkler; and sister-in-law Jan Johnson. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Bernadine Johnson; loving husband, Eddie; Son, Steven Haefner; Brother, Philip Johnson; and son-in-law, Dale Jenson. 

Jean loved and embraced life, family and friends.  She touched countless lives through caring, kindness and humor, as a result, many loved her and will dearly miss her. 

We would like to thank the staff at Havenwood of Richfield and Brighton Hospice.  Your care and compassion for her helped our family greatly through her last weeks.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on 2026-04-08 at St. Richard, 7540 Penn Ave S. Richfield, MN Visitation 1 HR prior.
