Dale John Blosberg Obituary
Dale John Blosberg, age 86, of Crosslake, Minnesota, passed away on March 7, 2026, after living with Parkinson’s disease.
Dale was born on March 12, 1939, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to John and Violet (Soderberg) Blosberg. He was raised in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, where he attended grade school and graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1957. After high school, he attended and graduated from Northwest Electronics Institute.
In the fall of 1958, Dale began his career with Medtronic, Inc. at its original garage location in northeast Minneapolis. During the early years, he wore many hats, helping build and repair products and contributing to the production of some of the first transistor pacemakers in the industry. He also serviced medical devices at the University of Minnesota Hospital and other hospitals throughout the Twin Cities area. Later, he became Instruments Service Manager. In 1986, he began a new role in the Ventures Cardiac Assist Group as a Cardiomyoplasty Clinical Engineer, working throughout North America and later in the Asia-Pacific region. Over the years, he served as a device trainer, technical writer, surgical coordinator, and in several other roles. After 39 years with Medtronic, Dale retired and moved to the lake home he built in Crosslake.
On June 23, 1962, Dale married Jean Wiltsey. They purchased their home in Columbia Heights in 1963, where they raised their family. In 1970, they began construction on their lake home on Velvet Lake. Many years were spent there enjoying time with family, grandchildren, friends, and relatives, snowmobiling, boating, four-wheeling, fishing, and making countless memories at the lake.
Dale enjoyed making music by playing the baritone horn, trombone, organ, accordion, and keyboard. He enjoyed being part of the Columbia Heights High School band as a youth. In retirement, he played in the Crosslake Lutheran Church’s Last Generation band. A most memorable occasion was playing the “Missouri Waltz” with an accordion group as President Truman passed by in his motorcade on Johnson Street NE in Minneapolis.
Dale also enjoyed audio and video recording, photography, and maintaining and repairing electronic and mechanical equipment. His many projects included building a pickup camper, designing and installing church audio/visual systems, and restoring a 1930 Model A Ford. He also served his community as president of the Velvet Lake Association and as a citizen lake monitor for several years.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, John and Violet (Soderberg) Blosberg, and his daughter, Sherri Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean; his sons, Dean Blosberg (Andrea) and Dennis Blosberg; his son-in-law, Christopher Davis; his grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Petroske, Emily (Zach) Neidermyer, Peter Blosberg, Grant Blosberg, Paige Blosberg, Brittany (Tristan) Davis Rohwer, and Abby Davis; and his great-grandchildren, Ruth Neidermyer and Oliver Petroske, with another on the way; and his brother, Gary Blosberg (Jean).
A service will be held to celebrate Dale’s life and commend him to God in Heaven:
