Tym Brian Mickolajak Obituary

Tym Brian Mickolajak, 79, of Duluth passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2026. 


Tym was born in Duluth and spent much of his life in the community he loved. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine; his father, Stanley; his stepfather, Larry Westlund; and his beloved brother, Tyce. 


Tym proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War a service he carried with pride throughout his life. 


Known for his great sense of humor, Tym loved making people laugh and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for coaching, hunting, and fishing, and he treasured the time he spent with his many good friends at the river place campground. Above all, he will be remembered as a wonderful father, loyal friend, and devoted family man. 


Tym is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mary Lee; his sons, Todd and Jay; and his daughter-in-law, Rachel. 


Tym’s strength, humor, and the many memories he created with family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. 


A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buffalo House Junction. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate Tym’s life.
