Our father, Irwin Kallin passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2026. He lived a beautiful life with our Mom, Arloine for 62+ years.

He is survived by Deanna and daughter Haley (David) and great grandchild due in June; Diedra (Ken), Sheryl (Kenny) and children Luke (Jazzlyn) and great grandchild Laylynn; Tyler (Katie); Noah (Madelyn) and great grandchild Sadie with another great grandchild due in August and Jason and his son Irwin.

We knew our Dad was a strong man but he showed his true strength over the last couple years. He sustained a spine injury in mid 2023. Doctors said he would never walk again. He also had a condition causing problems with his esophagus and doctors said he would never eat or drink by mouth again. After countless surgeries, ER visits, hospital stays, extended nursing home stays, PT, OT, literally fighting for his life, he proved the doctors wrong…he walked again with use of a walker and he was able to eat and drink by mouth again. He was then able to return home in November 2024 with the help of 10+ hours per day of nursing and personal care assistance.

In early 2025, he fell at home and injured his knee and now needed additional surgeries and countless doctor visits along with another nursing home stay with PT and OT. He again focused on his goal of getting home and he got to the point of being able to stand with assistance of a machine so he was able to go home and he got there in September 2025. He again needed 10+ hours a day of nursing care and personal care assistance. He never walked again but he was able to move about inside the home with an electric wheelchair.

Our parents spent their days over the last two years holding hands and just being near each other. What he loved the most is being near our Mom who he said repeatedly that she was more beautiful now than she was the day he met her. He was so proud of her.

The last two years have been the most difficult times we have endured and we had to fight every step of the way to make sure he was cared for properly. It was also the most precious time of our lives because we were able to be there for the most amazing and strongest man we know.

You are our hero, Dad. You are now free and fully restored, enjoying the beauties of heaven and doing everything you love. You have joined the cloud of witnesses to cheer us on and we know you are sending your prayers to us as you watch our lives unfold. We will celebrate with you one day soon. Until then, we love you!

A Visitation and Memorial Service are on April 2 at Yesuah’s Love Heals Church at 627 12th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415. The Visitation begins at 10 with Service to follow at 11.
