Mitch Floding, 68, of Eagan, MN died on February 7th, 2026 after a battle with cancer.
He was born on November 18th, 1957, to Duane and Ardelle Floding in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mitch’s passion for cars and motorcycles was unmatched. He could often be found in his garage working on his extensive motorcycle collection or rearranging his automobile and motorcycle memorabilia. On more than one occasion, he would pick Erica up from the bus stop on one of his many motorcycles. Mitch’s motorcycle and car knowledge was second only to his encyclopedic knowledge of music, with an extensive record and CD collection and infinite concert stories to share. He enjoyed art immensely and could spend hours at museums or galleries. He was an artist himself but did not discuss it much.
Later in life, Mitch became an avid Minnesota Frost and PWHL fan, beginning a new collection of jerseys and becoming a season ticket holder with his wife, Julie. He got to see his favorite team win back-to-back Walter Cups.
Family outings would often include car shows, concerts or the State Fair. He was difficult to buy gifts for, but the easiest thing to get him were books, as he loved reading and talking about what he was reading.
Mitch was fascinated by historical events and had about 15-20 more places he wanted to travel to; his travel stories as a young man were carefree, bohemian and could be perfectly summarized as he was a person who wanted to meet people and experience the uniqueness of the world.
He loved hot sauce, sushi, coconut cream pie and always had room for a good take-out pizza. He had a secret talent for baking and could be found in the kitchen making cakes, pies or cookies.
Mitch enjoyed annual trips to Canada with family, road trips, and visits to Colorado. He was the best grandpa to his granddog, Puzzles, and even though he initially did not like being called grandpa, he grew to love it.
He was quiet, supportive, (im)patient, witty, direct and unfailingly good. He is so, so missed.
Mitch is survived by his wife, Julie, daughter, Erica, and son-in-law, Wesley Kimball; his sisters-in-law Karen Kragseth, Bev Schulte and Marcia Floding. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Kevin Schulte, Wayne Kragseth, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by long-time friends Tom Newell and Mike Sable, and his beloved granddog Puzzles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ardelle and Duane Floding, brother Rev. Dr. Matthew Floding
