David Robert Hood, 83, was born August 5, 1942, in St. Paul, MN, to Robert and Charlotte (Zauft) Hood. After a long journey with Alzheimer’s and dementia, Dave passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, surrounded by family.

Dave grew up in Duluth, attending Chester Park Elementary and Duluth East High School before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1965. From 1960 to 1968, Dave served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

On October 26, 1963, Dave married Corinne (Beaudry), and together they raised four children in Duluth.

Dave worked for many years at the Duluth Chamber of Commerce before launching his own kitchen design business, later retiring from Menards in kitchen design. 

While raising their family, Dave remained active in the community as a member of the Duluth Jaycees, volunteered at Endion Elementary School, and served as Rink Director at Lower Chester Hockey Rink.

An avid collector, Dave built amazing collections of stamps, seashells, coins, PEZ, Fiestaware, and agates. Researching, cataloging, and connecting with fellow collectors around the world was his passion.

A dedicated UMD Bulldog sports fan, Dave also held a lifelong fascination with the great ships entering the Duluth Harbor. The power and beauty of Lake Superior were especially meaningful, always providing a sense of awe and peace.

He cherished his 9 grandchildren: Courtney, Caroline, Darby, Isabelle, Molly, William, Hattie, Declan, & Connor who have always been his pride and joy.

David was preceded in death by his wife Corinne, his parents, and his sister Pamela Enright.  

He is survived by his children: Lynn (Bob) Henderson of Duluth, Jeff of Duluth, Deb (Karl) Bodin of Andover, MN and Chris (Megan) of Bayport, MN. 

The Family extends heartfelt thanks to the Elysian Senior Homes of Duluth and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion for David and his family at the end of his life. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery Chapel on Thursday, March 19th at 1:00 p.m.
