Joyce (Schuiteman) VerMeer was born on Sept. 16, 1934 in Sioux Center, IA to John G. and Johannah (Rozeboom) Schuiteman. She graduated from High School in 1952, Northwestern Jr. College in 1954, and was an elementary teacher in Sibley, IA, and Vriesland and Zeeland, MI.

On June 15, 1956 she was united in marriage to Wilmer VerMeer. As pastor and wife, they served RCA churches in Davis, SD, Roseland and Hollandale MN., Brandon, WI, Morrison, IL and Colton, SD. She was active in women's work on the Local, Classical Synod and Denominational levels, and derived much joy for her family and friends, as well as leading neighborhood Bible Studies. She was 91 years old.

Joyce is survived by her three sons and their wives: Barry and Linda of Greenville, WI; Kevin and Teresa of Savage, MN and their sons Billy (Erin) and Logan (Anna); Lincoln and Gwen of St. Louis, MO and their children Sam (Kelli), Hannah (Kennedy), Abby and Mikayla; four great grandchildren: Elliot, Zeke, Cayden, and Walker; and two sisters Grada Kiel, and Mildred Ten Brink (Lee). 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sisters; Harriet Boterhoek, Arlene Schuiteman, and Bernice Sandbulte.

Joyce loved Jesus, and she was thankful for the grace God had shown in forgiving her of her sins in Christ. Gods lavish love toward her was reflected in how well she loved those around her. Her life was marked by selfless actions and words of kindness. The light of Christ shined brightly through Joyce. In recent months she mentioned that she was looking forward to being with Jesus in heaven, and hoped that her loved ones would join her someday.

Services to be held March 28, 2026 at Grace Covenant Church of Bloomington, 10201 Nicollet Ave, Bloomington, MN 55420. 10:00 Visitation, 11:00 Service, followed by lunch.
