Carol Russell Drinkard passed peacefully on February 17, 2026.  She was born November 25, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William and Catherine Drinkard.  In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sister Mary Ann Drinkard.  She is survived by her sister, Nancy Drinkard (Brad Barham).

Carol’s adult life was marked by academic excellence.  She was awarded two PhDs and her professional career included work as an Epidemiologist at the U of M and a Senior Research Analyst at United Health.  Carol’s generous spirit had her financially supporting many worthy causes and setting up numerous college scholarships.  Carol was an informed and involved voice for justice and peace for all.

Always seeking new experiences and adventures, Carol was an enthusiast in biking, downhill skiing and running marathons.  Her love of travel took her to all seven continents, always appreciating the diversity of people & their cultures. 

Carol found great joy in story telling, reading and neighborhood walks.  She befriended every dog that crossed her path.  Music also played an important part of Carol’s life.  She especially enjoyed opera and sang with the Twin Cities Gospel Choir and the choir at her beloved church, Park Avenue United Methodist.

Carol will be dearly missed.  Her infectious smile, fierce independence and deep devotion will not be forgotten.

A memorial celebrating Carol’s life will be held at a later date.  Her cremains will be privately interred in Troy, Michigan.
