Obituary of Alton James Johnson

Alton J. Johnson age 92 of Minnetonka, MN, previously St. Louis Park, died on February 13, 2026. He was born August 9, 1933 in Hastings, MN. to Alton G. and Helen A. Johnson (Harkcom). He attended Hastings High School and the University of Minnesota, and had a lifelong career in business management. His gifts in the business world included creativity, problem-solving , and leadership. In his youth he was an avid sports fan and participant, receiving honors in football and baseball. Alton pursued a professional baseball career until inducted into the army. He was a volunteer for the Special Olympics and participated in selecting athletes for international games. He taught Sunday school at Westwood Lutheran Church for 27 years and knew the importance of Jesus Christ in your life.

Survived by wife Janet Ecklund Johnson, four children Karen (Jeff) Lukens, Christa Pederson (Chuck Mears), Gregory (Sandi) Johnson, and Steven Johnson, six grandchildren Anna (Jared), Allison (Ryan) , Grace, Tyler (Tracy), Laura (Connor), Blake (Sarah), great grandchildren, Tova, Autumn, Eli, Emma, Asher, Barrett, Quinn, Addison, Benjamin, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. His spirit lives on in those who knew him.
