Joyce Ann (Betzold) Swedin Obituary

Joyce Ann (Betzold) Swedin passed peacefully on February 14, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. Joyce was born on January 2, 1954 in Minneapolis, MN, to Betty (McNamara) and Fred Coffey. Betty later married Dale Betzold. Dale adopted Joyce and her sister, Jean Marie, and raised them as his own. 


Joyce grew up in Farmington, MN, and graduated from Farmington High School in 1972. Joyce loved music and animals throughout her life, Even as a young child, she would rescue wild cats from their family farm and tame them. While in secondary school, she played the clarinet in the Farmington High Band. 


Joyce married Harold Swedin on April 10, 1982. They enjoyed traveling around Minnesota in their camper and visiting various campgrounds. Their favorite place to visit in the summer was Two Harbors. Joyce’s beloved pets, Seren, Krickett, Amber Blu, and Pyewhacket, were always along for the adventures. 


Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Dale Betzold; her brother-in-law, Dale Saltmarsh; and nephew, Cody Olson. 


Joyce is survived by her husband, Harold; sisters, Jeanie Saltmarsh and Jody (Roger) Olson; brother, Glenn (Melissa) Betzold; sister-in-law, Pam (Serge) Lugo; and several nieces and nephews. 


A private graveside service will be held at Corinthian Cemetery in Farmington in the Spring. Memorials can be sent to your favorite animal shelter or rescue organization, or to Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin, Wisconsin (PO Box 536, 54002).
