Jacqueline "Jackie" Yarusso Obituary

Jacqueline (Jackie) Yarusso

Passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at the age of 71. She was a lifelong resident of the east side of St. Paul.

Born on May 23, 1954, she was the loving daughter of Jean and Walter Gatzke.

Jackie was a graduate of Johnson High School. She went on to become a devoted stay-at-home mom. Once her daughters became school-aged, she started her 30-year career at Como High School. She worked as part of the kitchen staff and loved working with the kids and her co-workers, which formed lasting friendships.

She was selfless and always put her family first. She was the best mom and greatest grandma/Mock that has ever existed. She was a talented sewer and handcrafted her grandbabies so many beautiful blankets over the years. They will never get cold! She was part of a bowling league for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her sister and gambling, even though she never won. She loved her desserts especially from Cafe Latte. Her most cherished moments were her time spent with her grandkids. She loved to snuggle with them, play card games and yard games, bake cookies, do arts and crafts, and have sleepovers with them. These included forts and popcorn with extra butter.

She always told them, “Good job, baby, I am so proud of you.” Mom was always reminding us to be grateful for every day and to keep our chin up. We will try.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Walter Gatzke. Brothers, Tom, Bill, and Roger. Mother-in-law Mary Emery. Nephew Ike Larsen. As well as her beloved dogs, Jake, Barney, and Oscar.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Gina Knochenmus and Michelle Yarusso. Grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia, and Jaxson. The love of her life, Fred Yarusso. Son-in-law Steve Knochenmus. Sister, Nancy Larsen, and brother Ed Gores. Many nieces, nephews, and friends. As well as her Granddog Desmond.

A celebration of Jackies blessed life will be held at Yarusso’s on March 2, 2026, from 4:00-7:00.
