Lowell Clyde Jacobson Obituary

Lowell “Jake” Jacobson was born to Amil Jacobson and Eleanor Neiman Jacobson on September 22, 1938, in Lincoln, Minnesota. He passed away on February 7, 2026, at the age of 87.

Jake was married to Helen “Tudy” Jacobson, for 66 years. Together they built a life rooted in adventure and family. Their family stood as their biggest source of pride and joy. Jake spent much of his working career at Control Data / Seagate.  After retiring in 2002, Jake and Tudy embraced the open road, spending ten unforgettable years traveling the country in their fifth wheel—exploring our country’s national parks, visiting friends and family and taking in the beauty of America’s countryside.

When we think of Jake, we think of his joyful spirit and his remarkable ability to turn everyday life into an adventure. Their Maple Grove yard was a gathering place year-round—from his carefully constructed bobsled run in winter to summers spent shooting hoops, playing wiffle or Nerf ball, and keeping a shuttlecock in the air for as long as possible.

Some of the family’s most treasured memories came from countless camping and canoe trips, evenings spent circling Jake’s famous campfires, with flames shooting high into the night—singing John Denver songs to Robin's guitar playing.  One adventure that stands out was a Boundary Waters canoe trip, getting lost on Larch Creek and the wonderful trip that followed.

Jake loved sports too, playing broom ball on a neighborhood team, softball at work, and playing golf with his friends and son.  As a young man, he thrilled in speed, often drag racing on the streets of Hopkins. He carried a lifelong passion for old cars—especially his Chevrolet Bel Aires. He was also a devoted supporter of his children, enthusiastically cheering at his daughters’ volleyball and softball games and his son’s hockey and baseball games as well as coaching Pat’s football team. He loved helping family and friends with any project being attempted and he loved traveling around our beautiful country.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Tudy, and their children, Robin, Deborah, Patrick (Stacy), and Kim (honorary child),  along with his grandchildren Matthew, Jeffrey, Christine, Angela and Nick, great-grandson Milo, and his siblings, Dale, Joanne, Marvin, and Butch. We remember him as an immensely generous man, full of life, and devoted to his family.

Jake will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his deep love for family, and the way he made life more fun for everyone around him.  A celebration of Jake’s life will be held this summer, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree in his memory.
