Daniel E. Ireland passed away on February 6th, 2026 at the age of 80 years old. Dan was born to Parents Edwin Ireland and Marie Ireland (Felix) on January 20th, 1946, in St. Paul Minnesota where he lived most of his life. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family and friends who had the opportunity to say their goodbyes.

Dan earned a master’s degree in education out of the University of Saint Thomas. For over 35 years, Dan taught thousands of students in the Saint Paul Public School system at Hill High School, Highland Park, Central, and Arlington High School. Dan began his career in Special Education working with disabled students but transitioned into teaching English for most of his tenure. Dan was also lifetime advocate of sports and coached both hockey and football, but even when he wasn’t coaching- he always made sure to offer support to the teams wherever he taught.

Dan was a fan of literature and read thousands of books over his lifetime. After he retired from teaching, he achieved his lifetime goal of becoming a published writer. In 2014 he published his novel “The Ultimate Arena.” He had begun work on a second novel about his travels all over the globe in his youth, unfortunately he passed away before he was able to complete his second book.

Dan set an incredibly high standard for what it means to be a good friend, teacher, father, and man. He was someone who would sacrifice anything to protect his loved ones and wouldn’t hesitate to give his all to those who needed his help. He touched the lives of everyone he met, and he will be dearly missed.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Marie, as well as his sister Pat. Dan is survived by his son Brendan and daughter Brittany, as well as brothers and sisters Terry, Michael, Judy, and Kitty. 

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, February 20th from Noon to 3pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota: 1979 Old Hudson Rd, St Paul, MN 55119
