Betty Lorraine Dorr Obituary
Betty Lorraine Jacobson Dorr, 95, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at her home in Brooklyn Park, MN — a place filled with memories, routines she loved, and the comfort of familiarity.
Born in Ayr, ND, on November 13, 1930, to Richard and Esther (Iggena) Jacobson, Betty grew up with strong roots, surrounded by faith, family, and the values that shaped her entire life. She was confirmed in the Methodist Church in Wheatland, ND, and graduated from Wheatland High School, where she proudly played on the girls’ basketball team. In 1948, she married Wesley Dorr, Sr., and together they made their home in Minneapolis, MN, building a large family.
Betty had a gift for finding joy in the simple things. She loved singing and yodeling, visiting family back in North Dakota, clipping coupons, and working through her crossword puzzles. Trips to Duluth to watch ships come in were a special treat, as were going out to eat, playing pull tabs, trying her luck at a casino slot now and then, savoring a DQ banana split, and tuning in each week to watch Survivor. She also loved watching sports on TV and sharing a meal at Perkins or The 50’s Grille. Some of her happiest moments were spent going for long country drives. Betty often reminisced about her years as a CNA, caring deeply for the elderly people she once served.
She missed calling and catching up with her many family members and friends who passed before her — a ritual she cherished dearly.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wes Sr.; her sons, Ronald, Rodney, and Steven; and her siblings, Raymond, Margaret, Ruth, Doris, Melvin, Hazel, Joyce, and Kenneth.
She leaves behind a large family: her children — Robert (Mindy) of Tarpon Springs, FL; Michael of Bagley, MN; Randy of Isle, MN; Bonnie of Isle, MN; Wesley Jr. (Carmen) of Blaine, MN; Gary of Princeton, MN; and Melissa (Brandon) of Iowa — along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will also be missed by her dear friends “The Meals Guy” Mike White and “Kristie the Mail Lady”, and by her cherished pets, Bird, Jed, and June Girl.
