Marcia Margaret Scheele, age 92, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on
Saturday, December 28, 2025, at Catholic Eldercare on Main in Minneapolis.
Marcia was born on February 17, 1933, in Ipswich, South Dakota, to William and Margaret Scheele (Biegler). She was the youngest of nine children, all of whom preceded her in death.
In 1950, Marcia entered the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where she was known as Sister Marcia Scheele until 1986. She devoted much of her life to education and nursing, earning a Graduate Nursing Diploma from Presentation School of Nursing in Mitchell, South Dakota, in 1958; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1969 in St. Louis, Missouri; and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis in 1977.
Marcia taught nursing at St. Mary’s College in Missouri until 1979 and later at St. Mary’s Junior College in Minneapolis until 1985. She went on to serve as an Inspector of Nursing Homes for the State of Minnesota, continuing her lifelong commitment to compassionate care and high standards in healthcare.
Marcia had a deep love for dogs, especially her beloved dog, Minnie. After retiring, she fostered dogs and cared for pets while their owners were away. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Minnesota Twins and the Guthrie Theater, volunteering as an usher whenever possible. She also greatly enjoyed the Minnesota Opera and held season tickets with close friends. Marcia cherished traveling the world with her siblings and friends, creating memories that she held dear throughout her life.
Upon returning to Minnesota, Marcia became an active member of both the Basilica of Saint Mary and Saint Joan of Arc Parish in Minneapolis, where her faith and community continued to be central to her life.
Marcia is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Catholic Eldercare Assisted Living Memory Care for the exceptional care, kindness, and support provided beginning in April 2015. In 2016, Marcia transitioned to Catholic Eldercare on Main Memory Care as her health declined, where she continued to receive outstanding and loving care.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2025, at Saint Joan of Arc Parish in Minneapolis. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will take place at 12:00 p.m. Marcia will be laid to rest at Saint Joan of Arc Cemetery.
