LaVonne Jean Ham Obituary

LaVonne Jean Ham, age 87, of Cambridge, Minnesota, passed away and went home to her Heavenly Father on January 25, 2026. 


LaVonne was born on July 29, 1938, to John and Blanche (Riley) Kurtz in Aberdeen, SD. She graduated from Aberdeen, SD High School. After high school she received her teaching certificate and taught school for a short time. She married Glen Ham on January 25, 1958, and lived in Aberdeen until moving to Cambridge where they raised their five children. She was the cherished wife of Glen Ham for 66 years, and together they created a beautiful legacy of love and devotion. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. 


LaVonne’s passions included her faith, family and friends. She was a committed follower of Christ and served in her church. She especially enjoyed working with the children’s Sunday School, Wednesday nights, and Vacation Bible School. She became a teacher’s assistant at the Isanti Elementary School and enjoyed working with all the kids for many years. 


LaVonne will be remembered for her craftiness. She was an avid quilter, crocheter and loved to sew. She loved making cute dresses for her granddaughters and took great joy seeing them wear the dresses and the smiles on their faces. 


Preceded in death by her husband, parents, Doris (Kurtz) Hanson (birth mother), siblings EuGene Kurtz, Deloris Wilson, Verna Mae Herzog, Christ Kurtz. 


LaVonne is survived by her sister Pat (Mike) Carlson, 5 children Robin Ham, Melonee Ham, Todd (June) Ham, Michelle (Dennis) Ginter and Jason Ham, 7 grandchildren Stephanie Ham, Joshua (Kelsy) Ham, Amy (Matt Lindley) Ham, Jeremy Ham, Megan (Boyd Flanagan) Ginter, Mitchel Ginter (Renalou Cabajog) and Justin Michelson, 5 great-grandchildren Keegan Ginter, Jordan Wyszynski, Kyler Wyszynski, Sean Michelson and Avery Lindley, 1 great-great-grandchild Aliyah Ginter and many other family members and friends. 


A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, visitation begins at 10:00 AM with service following at 11:00 AM at North Isanti Baptist Church. Please join us as we celebrate the life of LaVonne. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials to North Isanti Baptist church in honor of LaVonne’s memory. 


We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all those who have reached out with their love, support, and condolences during this challenging time. Your kind words and gestures have provided us with solace and strength. We are forever grateful for your unwavering presence. 


The family extends a special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Aspen Adult Foster Care and Hospice for their loving care and support during LaVonne’s time at Aspen. 


As we bid farewell to LaVonne, we carry her spirit within us, cherishing the memories and lessons she bestowed upon us.
