Lyla Jean Christianson, 93, of Richfield, passed away peacefully on January 22nd, 2026. Born September 24, 1932 in Minneapolis to Wilfred and Lyal Genty. Lyla graduated from John Marshall High School in 1950. She worked and modeled for Harald’s Department Store and later worked many years for Hallmark, where she managed stores in Bloomington and Richfield.
She married Stan Christianson on May 19, 1956, and together they raised six children in Richfield: Tracy (Scott) Kellar, Mary (Scot) Reierson, Peter (Michelle) Christianson, Amy (Jon) Erb, Katie (Tom) Thaden, and Matthew (Chad) Christianson. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, their spouses, and four great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). She was a long time active member of Saint Peter‘s Catholic Church in Richfield, where she taught Sunday school, CCD, and served as a Eucharistic minister.
Lyla was larger than life, and her warmth touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and remembered with great love. She was preceded in death by her husband Stan, her parents, and four siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, February 20th, 2026, at 1100AM. St. Peter’s Catholic Church 6730 Nicollet Ave. S. Richfield, MN. 55423. Visitation one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lyla’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
