Andrea CR Hinrichs, age 83, passed away peacefully at her apartment in Meadow Woods Memory Care on January 24, 2026, following a short illness. She is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Andrea will be remembered as a strong woman of faith, a devoted wife and mother, a loyal and loving friend, and beloved member of her family.
Andrea was born May 19, 1942 in Roberts County, South Dakota, to Reinhold and Alma Henke, as one of six children. She grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She first worked for Mr. Rush at Rush’s Bridal Shop, where she quickly became a jill-of-all trades, working in the office, with the seamstresses, and attending to the “Rush’s” brides on their wedding day. She maintained her friendships with co-workers and the Rush family throughout her life. She moved on to a career with Hennepin County, where she spent 29 years, retiring as a Senior Case manager in 2003. Her work ethic, passion for self improvement and organizational skills were appreciated, acknowledged and rewarded . She worked hard to support and improve the lives of her clients, treating them with compassion and respect. She formed many friendships at Hennepin County, including her best friend of over 50 years, Jan Schmidt.
Andrea grew up attending Trinity First Lutheran Church and School as a Missouri Synod Lutheran, and her Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life. She dedicated much of her time to helping out at her church: singing in the choir, teaching Vacation Bible School, organizing Passover meals, working in the pre-school, and lending her gift for organization to many activities and programs. Following her retirement, she volunteered back at Trinity First, the church she grew up in. Her life of service to the church and dedication to her faith gave her peace, joy, and strength throughout her life.
Andrea married her first love, Harvey Hinrichs, whom she grew up with at Trinity First Lutheran School. They started dating while attending South High School, and were married in 1964. Harvey and Andrea shared a passion for golf, which was a big part of their life together. Members at Hazeltine National Golf Club and Indian Hills Golf Club, Andrea started and ran the “Bee-Line” golf tournament for many years. They also enjoyed spending many winters golfing, alternating between California and Florida. Her love for Harvey was evident throughout their life together, and continued after his death in 2002.
Andrea is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings; Harlan, Ardys, Dennis and Karen.
Andrea is lovingly remembered by her two children, Michael and Michele (Tom) whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. Her grandchildren, Ashley (Dan), Michael (Kaity), Trenton, and Alexandra (Scott), with whom she shared her passions for golf, cooking, and her faith, and encouraged and supported them in their passions, never missing an opportunity to attend a sporting event, piano recital, graduation, etc. All of her grandchildren enjoyed sleep-overs at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, trips and individual time with her. She was also blessed with 3 great- grandchildren, Colton Shane, and Waverley. Colton and Shane were blessed to visit their GG weekly and were deeply loved by her. Waverley got to know and love her through their many FaceTime conversations.
She is also survived by her sister LeAnn, sister-in-law Darlene (Mike), and by her many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and extended family, all of whom lovingly referred to her as Deeda, or Auntie Deeda. Andrea loved her extended family, and maintaining close relationships with them was a very important part of her life.
Andrea’s legacy of faith, strength through adversity, and love for family will live on in the lives of those she helped shape. Andrea's wish to be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband Harvey, will be carried out in a private ceremony.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for later this summer, giving grandchildren and family members who live overseas the opportunity to be present.
