Jonathan “Johnny” Coleman

February 25, 1957 - January 16, 2026


Jonathan V. Coleman affectionately known as “Johnny” passed away in his home on January 16, 2026.


Jonathan was born on February 25, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from North High School in Minneapolis, MN. Johnny proudly bled purple for his beloved Minnesota Vikings, cheering during NASCAR races and howled loudly for the Minnesota Timberwolves. To know him was to know him, Johnny was passionate to run a season games on his adored electric football game.


Preceded in death by his brother, Ben Coleman III (Joan), parents, Callor “Louise” Coleman and Ben Coleman Jr. He is survived by former wife, Joyce Coleman; children, Jhontal Washington, Jennefer Coleman, Brittany Lane, and Memory Lane-Coleman; siblings, David Coleman, Vergil “Cookie”, and Lawrence; 6 grandchildren, Chris, Cavarius, Genesis, Jayceon, Jayveon, and Zhuri; and many more family and friends.


A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 5100 James Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55430.
