Diana Green was born on February 19, 1954 and died at home in Minneapolis at the age of 71. She had been a resident of the city for many years.
Diana was an artist, musician, and writer. She was best known for her ground breaking comic strip, Tranny Towers. She contributed to several LGBTQ+ publications and self-published her own work. She was an advocate for transgender health care access, AIDS awareness, and LGBTQ+ rights.
She previously worked for Clare Housing and enjoyed caring for clients and helping them navigate life on their terms.
Diana earned her BFA in Comic Book Illustration from Minneapolis College of Art and design (MCAD) and a master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Hamline University. She taught at MCAD since 2006 and was a Distinguished Adjunct faculty in Liberal Arts as well as serving as a Union steward. Her class this semester would have been Comic Book History, which was her favorite class to teach.
Diana is preceded in death by her parents and her brother John. Survivors are sisters Patricia Frey and Theresa Narotzky, brother Craig Rovinsky; three nieces, one nibling, cousins, former wife Linda Foss, treasured friends, respected colleagues, and her much-loved cat Harvey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diana Green’s memory to Clare Housing. The donation can be marked as given in honor of Diana.
There will be a memorial reception in Diana’s honor on her birthday, February 19, from 4:00-6:00 pm, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, at 1979 Old Hudson Rd, St. Paul
