It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Gary Lloyd Gudim on January 13, 2026 at the age of 85 years old.
He was born in Minneapolis, MN on December 29, 1940. He grew up in Northeast Minneapolis and moved from Minnesota to Las Vegas to be in the warmer climate. Gary was an excellent auto body man and shop owner who loved to customize old cars and put his signature “LiL DeviL” mark on all his prized possessions. He worked long and hard hours to provide for his family.
He was a military veteran who proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Glacier. From this experience, he developed a deep admiration for penguins, often speaking about them with joy, which became a cherished interest that brought him happiness.
Gary loved music, especially singing with family and friends, and of course, there was the hambone—an unforgettable performance Gary always enjoyed sharing. He also loved boating, racing cars, and was known by all as a true jokester who could always bring laughter to those around him.
Gary is survived by his wife Carolyn, first wife and mother of his children, Phyllis Heidelberger, daughters Shanna Gudim, Tylla (Eddy Arnold) Evangelista, Joya Emmons, Grandchildren Zachary Evangelista, Alexa Evangelista, stepchildren Shannon (John) Peterson and Michael Neises. He is preceded by his father, Lloyd Gudim, mother, Clara Gustafson, and brother Duane (Violet) Gudim.
Gary will be missed by all his friends and family and all who had the honor of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort and joy to all who cherished him.
