Marty Allen Stamm Obituary

Martin “Marty” Allen Stamm, 71, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on January 14, 2026. He was born March 6, 1954, in Minneapolis, to the late Jack and Tammy Brown Stamm.

Throughout his life, Marty was known for his vibrant free spirit. His adventurous nature brought him many places in his young adult life, including hitchhiking to and living in California, Mexico, and Vermont with the company of his two dogs. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Marty probably heard a tale or two of his many travels. No matter where in the world Marty was, he touched the lives of all he met. Marty’s zest for life carried into his career endeavors, where he was the brains behind many business ventures, including The Nurse Connection, a temporary nursing agency.

Marty’s greatest adventure, however, was marrying the love of his life, his “Hubba”, Lori Jayne Moore, on May 27th, 1989. Together they enjoyed nearly 39 years of happiness, love, and joy.  Marty and Lori enjoyed attending concerts and comedy shows, soaking in the sun on vacations together, and spending quality time with their family and friends. In between life’s big events, Marty and Lori also took pleasure in the little things together, such as knitting and crocheting in bed while watching their favorite show and drinking coffee together on the porch. Marty and Lori went on to have two sons, Jesse and Jack. Being a father brought the greatest joy to Marty’s life, and he never missed an opportunity to tell his boys how proud he was and how loved they were. He is fondly remembered for always being present at every moment of his son’s lives, from sporting events and boy scout trips to playing basketball in the driveway and tennis at the park. Marty’s kind and generous heart extended to his community, as well. In his last years, Marty knitted what his granddaughters lovingly call “Papa Hats”.  Even during a tough and courageous battle with cancer, Marty knitted and donated at least 550 hats to homeless shelters in Minneapolis.

Marty will forever be remembered for his deeply loving, hilarious, and quick-witted personality. He poured his heart into those he loved and always offered a helping hand or shoulder to lean on for anyone who needed it, albeit with an inappropriate joke or two woven in. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life and made sure every day was lived to its fullest.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Tammy Stamm, stepmother, Jessie Stamm, mother-in-law, Lois Swift, and many great aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Lori Stamm, sons Jesse (Alyssa) Stamm and Jack (Hannah Gallow) Stamm, granddaughters Ellery and Rhea Stamm, Sister-in-law Paula (James) Duncan, nieces Vera and Stella Duncan, brother Jerry Stamm (Jackie May), and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Marty’s family would like to express deep appreciation to Mayo Clinic. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Feed My Starving Children.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 31st at the Cremation Society of Minnesota; visitation from 1-2 pm and service at 2 pm. 4343 Nicollet Avenue South Minneapolis MN, 55409.
