Maxine Sharon Ligman

October 26, 1938 – January 14, 2026

Maxine Sharon Ligman, 87, of Proctor, MN, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 14, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Maxine was born on October 26, 1938, in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Francis and Opal Hill. She graduated from Northwestern High School in 1956, and married Terrence Ligman on August 3, 1956.

Throughout her life, Maxine was a hard worker and a friendly presence in the local community. She spent many years serving others through her work at Roth’s dept store, Lignell Pharmacy, Northwest Outlet, and her adventures with Christmas Around the World.

She found her greatest joy in the simple, meaningful aspects of life like getting her hair done weekly! She was an avid reader and shared a bond of true kinship with her neighbor, Lorraine, who was like a sister to her. Maxine also had a deep and compassionate love for animals, particularly her beloved cats, who were her constant companions.

Above all, Maxine’s legacy is her family. She took immense pride in watching her family grow through five generations.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Opal Hill, and her brother, Marlow Hill.

She is survived by: Kathy (Bryan) Beede, Rose Ligman, and Joe (Alicia) Ligman. A wonderful host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom she loved dearly!
