Charles David McGinty, lovingly known as Charlie, was born on September 5, 1942, passed away peacefully on December 26th. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joan; and his brothers, Don, Tom, and John.
Charlie was born in 1942 into a loving & caring Irish family. He attended Ascension grade school and high school at Benilde St. Margaret’s. Charlie was known to be an exceptional athlete throughout childhood and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He became a pipefitter and was a dedicated member of Local 34 for many years. After retirement, he embraced life fully, spending much of his time in Cabo, Mexico, where he enjoyed the warmth and community, along with trips back to MN to visit family and his friends at Bunny’s bar in St. Louis Park.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Michelle McGinty-Stober (Ned Ammons) and Shannon McGinty-Spillett (Keith), along with grandchildren Ryan Stober, Ava Stober, Shane Spillett, and Olivia Spillett. Along with many loving family members and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible and caring teams at Mount Olivet and Grace Hospice for their compassion and support during Charlie’s final days.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 9th, 11:00 am at Annunication Church at 509 W 54th St Minneapolis, MN 55419 with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Private Interment will be held at Fort Snelling at a later date with immediate family.
