It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sue Klein, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Sue grew up in St. Paul with her parents and five siblings. She also met her future husband, Alan, there. In marriage, they joined their families, as well as having three children together: Joseph, James, and Alane. Their family continued to grow with three granddaughters and, later, two great-grandchildren.
With an almost gravitational force and radiating a palpable love and kindness, she continued to gather a network of friends that further expanded her family.
It is important to describe this large family and circle of friends because it was the most important thing to Sue. And if you were one of her kids’ friends, well, you might as well have been her own kid too. Or at least she made you feel that way.
Beyond her family life, Sue enjoyed games, especially the ones that involved excitedly yelling (“YAHTZEE!” “BINGO!” “FARKLE!”), dominos, singing along to Dolly Parton, bumming around with family and friends, trips to the casino, travel, and a good adventure. She loved her gardens, flowers, and a beautiful sunrise or sunset. She even enjoyed looking at the snow, just not so much spending time in it. Sue liked her sugar with a splash of coffee and cream. A Peppermint Pattie or some Oreos would make her day, especially if she was sharing them with someone she loved.
Sue is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alan; her father, Norbert; and mother, Olena. She is survived by her children Joseph (Carri), James (Stephanie), and Alane; grandchildren Julie (Dakota), Kholby, and Kaylynn (Antonio); and great-grandchildren, Cleo and Bennett; as well as by brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, and even more loving family and friends.
To know Sue was to know you were loved by Sue, because she was going to tell you. And usually she would tell you two, three, or more times.
For a woman who gave unlimited love and kindness, let’s join together to celebrate her life and share memories with love, peace, and happiness ALWAYS.
