Janice Lee Gunther (Borries), a beloved wife, loving mother, cherished sister, grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025.

Born on Father’s Day, June 16, 1946, in Minneapolis, MN, Janice and her identical twin Judith brought double joy to their parents, Fritz and Lois (Field) Borries. As the oldest of the Borries children, Janice grew up in South Minneapolis, where she attended Standish Elementary, Folwell Junior High, and Roosevelt High School graduating in 1964. In 1967, Janice married her high-school sweetheart, John Gunther, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned over 58 years. Their adventures took them briefly to Havre de Grace, Maryland, before returning to Minneapolis. Janice dedicated over 30 years to serving the City of Minneapolis, retiring from the Department of Inspections. Later, she continued her commitment to public service at the DMV in Delano, MN, before fully embracing retirement. Janice and John eventually settled in Watertown, MN, where they spent the last three decades enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

She is survived by her loving husband John; her daughter Courtney (Steve) Hamre; sisters Judith (Michael) Feiler and Carole (Dale) Anderson; her grandsons Aiden and Liam Hamre; sister-in-law Sandy (Claude) Brew and many nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz Borries and Lois Field Borries Masko; her brother Richard Borries; her half-brother Charles Borries; her half-sister Beverly Borries Fike; and her treasured beagles, Ben, Morgan and Shadow.
