Diane Arlene Hawthorne, 86 of Maplewood, passed away on November 28, 2025.
Born to Lerton and Pearl (Hofstad) Duncan on March 20, 1939 in St. Paul, she attended Harding High School, where as a senior she met her future husband, John Hawthorne. They were wed shortly after and raised a family together in St. Paul. Diane was a hard-working mother who loved her husband and children without fail, a devoted daughter and sister, a warm-hearted friend to many, and a compassionate animal lover. She loved singing in the choir at church, dancing, tending to her rose gardens, cake decorating, golf, bowling, and playing bocci ball and darts.
Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband John (2016), her mother Pearl (1985), and her father Lerton (1971).
Diane is survived by her daughter Dawn (Don) Fehlen, son Steven Hawthorne, daughter Rochelle (Lisa) Hawthorne, brother Leon (Diane) Duncan, cousin Patricia (Ken) Tischler, 3 grandchildren; Cory (Crystal), Kevin, Brittanie (Mitch), 4 great grandchildren; Lucas, Colton, Leo, Hank, and her beloved dog, Elvis.
Funeral services will be held at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church in St. Paul on December 5, 2025 at 11:00am. Internment at Forest Lawn Cemetery to follow. Celebration of Life from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Maplewood Assisted Living in Maplewood.
