After graduating from St. Louis Park High School, he served in the Navy for two years on the east coast around the Atlantic.  He then went to Dunwoody Institute and studied to be an electrician like his father. 

In the late ‘60s, until after 1996, he retired from the City of Minneapolis, where he had been a troubleshooter for the traffic light systems.  Gordy owned and enjoyed working on a small tree farm near Nevis, Minnesota.  He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where he enjoyed repairing various equipment with his friends, enjoying coffee and treats later. He and JoAnne enjoyed international travel, having visited many countries, especially the Holy Land. 

He helped JoAnne in her gardens by laying many cement steps in the yard and always kept busy by filling the bird feeders.  He loved nature and being outside, walking and exercising every day.  

He was preceded in death by his brother David, brothers-in-law Dean Branson and Phillip Gens. 

He is survived by his wife JoAnne, three stepchildren Steven Rehard (Pilar), Daniel Rehard and Kari McReavy, granddaughter Allison Huff (Grant), sister Dianne Gens, sister-in-law Sharon Branson, several nephews and a niece, plus so many wonderful friends. 

We especially thank Eden Prairie Senior Living and Superior Hospice for taking such good care of him every day. 

A service will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive on Thursday, December 4th at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM.  Fellowship and lunch will follow the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
