Robert Peter Melberg, 80, of Minneapolis, MN. Passed away surrounded by family on 11/24/25 at the Minneapolis Veterans Home.

Robert was born on August 2nd, 1945, in Bemidji, Minnesota. He honorably served with the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. He was married to Mary L Melberg from 1969 to 1986 and had two children, Mary S, and Kathryn. 

Robert had a curious and creative mind, explored through his passion for woodworking and keeping abreast of modern technology as it evolved through the years. He also had a love of the outdoors, reflected in his enjoyment of hunting and fishing. Perhaps his greatest love, rivaling that for his love for his daughters, was his love for his dog, Cindy.

Robert is preceded by his parents Emil and Helen (Poppenberg), and his sister Anita Matheney. He is survived by his Ex-Wife, but forever friend, Mary L. His daughters Mary S. Wetterlin (Adam), and Kathryn. His Siblings Gloria Wright (Larrie), Emil “Joe” (Myra), Ellen Smith (Robbie), Theresa Steele (Stephen), Thomas (Kim), William “Billy” (Brenda), Cecilia “Cici” Curry, John (Carol) and his beloved dog Cindy.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 1st, 2025, at the Minneapolis Veterans Home, 5101 Minnehaha Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55417 beginning at 10:30am.
