Janet Lorraine Anderson, age 77, of Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at her son’s home, surrounded by family.

Born in Duluth, MN on November 15, 1948, to David and Edna Soderlund, Janet grew up in Duluth and graduated from Central High School in 1966. She later completed a one-year clerical program at a technical college, graduating in 1970.

Janet had a deep love for the great outdoors—especially time spent at the cabin, pontoon rides, and camping under the stars. She was an avid traveler who delighted in exploring the United States, from the beaches of Hawaii to the mountains of Alaska, and many cruises. Janet and Edward spent many winter months in Arizona to avoid the cold winter months in Minnesota.

Janet was very creative - she found joy in quilting and sewing. Her greatest delight was giving her handmade quilts to family and friends—each one stitched with love and care. Known for her big heart and helping hands, she was always ready to mend a garment or lend her time to someone in need.  Janet also enjoyed scrapbooking, ceramics, and card-making. She poured great effort into crafting beautiful cards.

Janet served faithfully at her church, especially during summers at Camp Swampy, where she was the beloved head cook. Her hearty meals and warm hospitality were a highlight for children and adults alike—no one ever left hungry. At church, she was a part of the Women’s Missionary Fellowship group, where they made blankets for many people and prepared supplies for missionaries.

Her greatest joy came from time spent with her four grandchildren. Whether sipping coffee, playing games, making crafts, or roasting s’mores by the fire, Janet cherished every moment. She especially loved sharing cabin time and helping the grandchildren with quilts and creative projects.

Janet will be lovingly remembered by her children, Daniel (Heather) Anderson and Jodi Anderson; and fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Hannah, Noah, Jonah (Hannah), and Elijah Anderson. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and many dear friends.

A gathering for family and friends will be held at Cotton Community Church in Cotton, MN, on Saturday, December 6th, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Janet’s life.

Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Cotton.
