Matthias Anthony "Tony" Lynch Obituary

Matthias Anthony 'Tony' Lynch (Oct 28, 1944-Oct 20, 2025) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Matthias William Lynch and Agnes Mary (Ockenfels) Lynch. He was proud of being raised in Northeast Minneapolis with his four siblings by his widowed mother after his fathers death when he was a teen. He graduated from Edison High School and went into the Army. He was stationed at Fort Snelling in communications. After leaving the service he began working for Northwest Orient Airlines, where he met his first wife, Cindy Olson. Together they had two children: Lanica (Brad Klein) and Patrick (Diane Husfeldt). After their divorce, Tony continued to work for Northwest Airlines in Las Vegas. He married Margaret Bohmfalk and together they had three daughters: Natalie (Justin Wheeler), Debra, and Elizabeth (Stacy Griffin).

Throughout his life Tony loved music, even singing in a local band in the 60's. A lifelong Twins fan, Tony was known for his skill at trivia games and ability to solve most any sort of puzzle. He enjoyed learning new things and collecting every bit of knowledge he could.

He will be missed by his large extended family and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, elder brother Peter, and younger brother Fritz. Survived by his five children, two elder sisters Ann Conrad (Larry Chadwick) and Mary Benkufsky, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and twin grandsons, Noah and Micah Klein.

The family wishes to send special appreciation to the Minnesota Veterans Home, where Tony lived for over a decade after a stroke and back injury. He made friends with everyone he met and had a perpetual smile on his face. Thank you all for filling his final years with peace and joy!

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Tony's name to the MN Veterans Home
