William Joseph Pluta succumbed to vascular dementia on October 27, 2025 at United Hospital
(St Paul) at the age of 75.
He was a resident of Savage, MN. Born December 28, 1949 in St
Paul, MN, he was the first child of Louise Hornung (Schneider) and the adoptive son of Andrew
D. Pluta Sr. William, was also known as “Bill”, “Billy”, “Animal”, and words of an unprintable
nature. He spent his childhood on various naval bases. Bill attended elementary school in
Hawaii, often remarking on his ability to go to school barefoot and living on the islands before
and during Hawaii’s transition to statehood. From his teens beyond, Bill was present in the
Minnesota rock & roll scene. Starting as a roadie and an audio/visual tech, he worked his way
up to managing various bands. Rock & roll music, as well as rebuilding and selling parts of
Camaros were the love of his life until his daughter Ashley came along. In April of 2007, Bill
was inducted into the Minnesota Rock and Country Hall of Fame for his contributions in the
music industry. Bill spent the last of his working years as a delivery driver for UPS, servicing
MSP International Airport and St Paul, MN. Being a delivery driver for UPS was a job he really
enjoyed. Though Bill held various jobs and hobbies over the course of his life, one of his
biggest passions was buying, selling, and collecting Lionel Trains — not to mention his
seasonal garage sale. In fact, he enjoyed his garage sales so much he would often collect
things throughout the year just to sell at his annual garage sale.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother Louise (Dick), father Donald, sisters Irene (Snooks) and
Mary Jo (Pudge), and brother Andrew Jr. Survived by daughter Ashley Larsen (Matthew) of
Lakeville, brother Richard (North Oaks), sister Catherine (St Paul), grandchildren Katrina,
Seraphina, and Everett, nieces and nephews Shannon, Angela, Carl, Donnie, Gabriel, and
Grayson. As well as other extended family.
A celebration of life will be held in Bill’s honor on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11am.
Located at Berean Baptist Church: 309 County Road 42E Burnsville, MN 55306. Lunch and
visitation will immediately follow the service.
