Elaine Evelyn Knowles Nelson, age 92, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 1, 2025.

She is survived by her children Kathleen M.K. Fystrom, Mark E Knowles Sr. (Laura), and Kristine M Knowles; grandchildren Trina Woodbeck (Kirk), Mark Knowles Jr., and Alex Knowles (Nicolai Krum); great-grandchildren Stephen, Sam, Millie and Astrid; stepchildren and step-grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce Kivisto (Roger); and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents John E and Myrtle M (Rhyne) DuHoux; husbands Burton E. Knowles (September 9, 1951 - November 18, 1976) and Arlan V. Nelson (April 19, 1986 - Feburary 24, 2022); brothers John and Edward DuHoux; and sisters Doris Heacock and Leora (Dolly) Patton.

A private burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in early December.
