Peek, LaVon L. Age: 93 years, 1 month, 11 days

LaVon Lee Peek (nee Jones) graced this earth from September 21st, 1932 – November 1st, 2025.

“Sugar” was born the second child of Richmond and Eva Jones in Sundance, Wyoming, on a small working dairy farm. They lived there until moving to a ranch in the Whitewood, South Dakota area when LaVon was still young. After graduating high school, LaVon attended business school, became employed with the University of Wyoming, where she met then married Chester A Peek in August 1953. After a divorce, LaVon raised her three children with strength and dignity, and their house was always known as the “Kool-Aid” house as the door was open to all who needed a place to belong, no matter how short or long that time might be.

LaVon worked for the H. M. Smyth company from the early 1970s until her retirement, filling the roles of receptionist and customer service. After retirement, LaVon kept herself busy serving those in her community.

LaVon is preceded in passing by her parents, older brother Vern, and younger brother Richmond D (Dick). She is survived by her children: Jennifer (Michael) Schultz, Laura (Thomas) Ondich, Edward (Angela) Peek; grandchildren: Sara, Emily, Derrick, Jamie, Erin, Nicholas, Cassandra, Breanna, and Travis; 19 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister Thelma (Dave) Bottum, sister-in-law Mary C Jones, very special bonus daughter Elaine Stein, and a host of extended family and friends.
