Dustie Flynn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 83. Born Augusta Evelyn Jorstad to Melvin E. and Dorothy L. Jorstad, Dustie grew up in South St. Paul, Minnesota, and attended the University of Minnesota, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in piano pedagogy. She raised three children in Minnesota, then moved with her family to Colorado in 1980.

Dustie was an accomplished musician, composer, vocalist, and teacher, engaging throughout her life in musical activities that brought her and those around her great joy. She developed a musical preschool program for Bemis Art School at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. She also followed her mother, Dorothy, into service in public libraries, a passion she shared with her husband. Over the course of her life, Dustie also served her church and community in many meaningful capacities.

Dustie leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity for her students, fellow performers, library patrons, and friends. Her humor and wit were evident in all that she enjoyed. She delighted in travel, music, books, and movies, as well as gathering with friends and family.

Dustie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Herbert Jorstad, and husband Kevin Flynn. She is survived by her three children, Dean Gorell (Jennifer), Dienna Sabol, and Darcie Gorell-Evers; seven grandchildren, Teresa Zanolini (Joey), Kristin Wallin (Kevin), Raimundo Vazquez (Geneva), John Gorell, Gabriel Gonzales, Eddison Evers, and Stefan Evers; and great-granddaughter Lainey Grace Zanolini.
