Clarence "Pie" Mabry Obituary

Clarence “Pie” Mabry passed unexpectedly on October 22, 2025. 


Clarence was born in Belzoni, Mississippi on November 21, 1954 to the late Charlene Mabry and L.C. Neal. In 1968, the family moved to Chicago, IL when he was 13 where he attended Fernwood Elementary School and Harlan High School through his freshman year.  In 1971, he moved back to Mississippi completing his High School education at Humphreys County High School.  In 1981, he enlisted in the United States Marines as a Map Compiler. While in the Marines he earned a Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He received an Honorable Discharge at the end of his duty in 1985.


Clarence worked as a shuttle driver in Chicago for many years. He moved to Minnesota in 1994 with his partner Lorraine and their three daughters. He found work at the Downtowner Car Wash where he stayed until he found his second home at Merit Chevrolet as a detailer in 2000. On December 31, 2020 Clarence retired from his position. In his retirement he spent countless hours taking care of his grandson Maverick, traveling to visit family, going to car shows and trying new hobbies such as motorcycling.


Clarence is survived by his partner, Lorraine Jackson Rogers with whom  he shared four children and two step children: Alexis Rogers, Clarence (Amy) Rogers, Quentin Rogers, Stephan (Hannah) Mabry and their son Maverick Mabry, Mary Rogers, and Derone (Jonovan) Welsh. 


Clarence shared two children with his previous wife, Kathy Wilson Mabry: Terrance and Brian Mabry. He is survived by both children as well as grandchildren:  Kali Williams, Kamari Mabry, Jamarian Coates,  Jordan Hooker,  Nasir Mabry, Kashianna Mabry, and great grandson DJ Mabry. 


Aside from his children Clarence is survived by his five sisters and step-father whom he loved deeply: Carolyn Lewis, Nancy Chambers, Joyce (Carl) Brayboy, JoAnn Mabry, Jacqueline Mabry and Oscar Mabry Jr. 


Clarence was preceded in death by previous wives: Bobbie Moore Mabry and Kathy Wilson Mabry. His Aunts: Carrie Young, Veoria Thurmond, Amelia Austin, Geraldine Smith, Louise Jamison, Annie (Gene) Bullock, and Mildred (James) Ware. His Uncles: Donald Neal, Homer Neal, Ronald Neal, David Lee Smith, Ernest (Gladys) Harvey, Walter (Mable) Mabry, Joenathan Holt, Martin (Jacqueline) Coffee.


A celebration of life will be held from 1-3:30 PM on Saturday November, 8, 2025 at the Cremation Society of MN 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul, MN 55119. Service will begin at 2pm. Following the service there will be an “open mic” portion for anyone who wants to share special stories about Clarence.
