Jessie Mae DeJarlais Obituary

Jessie Mae DeJarlais, born on April 6, 1935, passed away on October 26, 2025.  Jessie was a devoted mother and grandmother, and someone who selflessly lent a helping hand to anyone in need.


Jessie grew up on a farm in Calvin, North Dakota.  She graduated from Calvin High School in 1953.  Following High School, she attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota.  After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and started her career at Krome's Furniture.  Moving onto and retiring from Surdyk's liquor store as office manager.  


Jessie was an avid gardener and loved helping others with their gardens.  She was a walker and a talker, if she met someone on her walk she didn't know, she left with having a new friend.  She enjoyed spending time with friends, crafting, playing bingo, casino runs, cards, bowling, and golfing.  What brought her the most joy was spending time with family, especially the babies.  


Jessie is survived by three children, Nicky, Carrie and Steve.  Four grandchildren, Becky, Andy, Jenny and Ken; four great grandchildren, Makayla, SanTamia, Bradyn and Emily; three great great grandchildren, Harlem, Wynonna and Annelise; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.


Jessie is preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Jessie Holt; sisters, Evelyn Boldt, Margaret Smith, Mary Grieger, Catherin Syverson and Colleen Hamernik.  


Jessie will be deeply missed by her family, her friends and all who were fortunate enough to know her.  Her legacy of kindness, humor, and love will live on in the hearts and homes of everyone she touched.


Celebration of Life 11am, Friday November 7th at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.  Visitation one half hour before service.  


The family wants to give special thanks to those that cared for Jessie: Staff at Amira Choice Roseville and everyone at Optage Hospice.
