Doris Ann (Hecimovich) Peterson, 88, of Duluth, MN, passed away October 17th, 2025 surrounded by family. Doris was born on December 27th, 1936, in Ashland, WI, to Florence and Steven Hecimovich. She graduated from DePadua Catholic High School, Ashland, WI, in 1956. On August 31st, 1957, she married Robert (Bob) Peterson and raised four sons in Duluth, MN.
Once her own children were of school age, Doris worked as a teacher’s aide at St Michael’s Raggedy Ann Pre-school for many years, a job she truly loved. She had an abundance of patience for all, especially children. Her caring for others extended to her volunteering at St. Michael’s Used A Bit store and funeral lunch ladies for the church.
Her family meant everything to her. She was happiest at family gatherings for celebrating holidays, birthdays and especially when at her childhood home in Ashland for the family Fourth of July picnics and parades with her brother, sister, children and grandchildren. She had great wit and sense of humor which she carried with her through her final days of life.
She was preceded in death by her loving son Ricky; husband Bob; and her parents. She will be deeply missed by her children Steve (Donna) Peterson, Mike (Kris) Peterson, and Craig (Lynn) Peterson. Her sister Joanne Hecimovich and brother Lawerence (Donna) Hecimovich; grandchildren Jake, David, Kaley, Nicole, Ryan, Max and Cole; great-grandchildren Cora, Alice, Aubrey, Ava, Grady and Hallie.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ecumen Lakeshore who cared for Doris. Per Doris’ request, her family will be celebrating her life with a private family service.
