Jill Marie Lockwood, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, after courageously fighting a long battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Duluth, Jill lived her life with compassion, humor, and unshakable strength. She dedicated many years to caring for others as a nurse at Liberalis, a women’s treatment facility, where her empathy and honesty left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Jill was a devoted grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her children Troy Lockwood (Leah), Brent Lockwood, and Amie Lockwood; her grandchildren Clyde, Nathan, Niko, and Noah - who were truly the light of her life. (She often joked she loved her grandkids more than her kids - and we all knew she meant it with a smile.) Also her sister Sue Sandstrom Raycraft (Tim), nieces Ambyre Johnson (Brent) and Stephanie Hagen (Severin), and nephew Jake Lockwood.
She also leaves behind her two cherished dogs, Elsie and Bonnie, who never left her side and brought her endless comfort and love.
Jill enjoyed gardening, taking mini trips, and finding beauty in simple, quiet moments. Her laughter could fill a room, and her caring heart touched everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her father Skip Sandstrom, mother Betty Hansen, father of her children, James Lockwood, mother-in-law Janet Lockwood.
The Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Essentia oncology team, the Infusion Center, and Essentia Hospice for the wonderful care, compassion, and support they provided throughout Jill’s Journey.
Jill’s strength, humor, and warmth will live on in the hearts of those she loved and cared for. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, compassion, and laughter that will never fade.
