Robert Vincent "Bob" Barton Obituary

Robert Vincent Barton (Bob, Bobby, Bob-Bob, Dad, Daddio, Father, Grandpa Bob) passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2025 from natural causes in the same Como Park neighborhood where he was born, raised, and built a life full of love and mischief. As a lifelong resident of St. Paul, Bob was one of ten children and wore that chaotic badge of honor proudly.

Bob occasionally attended class at Murray High School, and sometimes went to mass at Holy Childhood, where he accumulated a lifetime supply of tales and deep faith. If you knew Bobby, you knew you were in for a story—usually an adventure which was always worth hearing.

Bob’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his seven children, whom he loved fiercely: Natasha (Jeremiah), Sara, Jesse, Michael, Anthony (Megumi), John, and Lilianna. He was the proud grandfather of seven granddaughters—Elsie, Tahlia, Mila, Fiona, Savannah, Etta, and Ivy—who lit up his world. Bob is also survived by his father Robert, siblings Deborah, Scott, James, Steven, Kevin, Vanessa, and Patti, Joseph and Anne, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Bob worked for The Ford Motor Company. He loved camping, rock & roll, art, a good game of chess, and baseball. He was an avid football fan and cheered on the Vikings—bringing him both hope and heartbreak weekly. Bob lived simply, loved deeply, and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Bob was a beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, humble generosity, and stories to be retold. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Gabriel Vincent, brothers Brian and Michael, and their loving mother, Sandra.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in St. Paul on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00, with a visitation beginning prior to at 10:00. Luncheon to follow the service at Holy Childhood in Buchanan Hall.

A private interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Bob with a simple act of kindness—perhaps by reconnecting with an old friend over coffee or treating a loved one to a meal at House of Wong in his name. Our Dad will be missed beyond measure. “Love you too.”
