In Loving Memory of Jean Marie Kirk

Jean Marie Kirk, age 76, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on October 6, 2025.

Born on October 15, 1948, in Minneapolis, MN, to Frank and Pearl Ericson, Jean grew up in a large family that shaped her lifelong devotion to caring for others. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1967 and went on to earn her LPN license in 1969, beginning a meaningful career in nursing. Jean’s compassion and dedication touched countless lives—whether through her work, her friendships, or the tender care she poured into her family.

Jean found joy in life’s simple and beautiful things: reading a good book, tending to flowers, watching her family grow, and taking a rejuvenating nap. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her spirited determination, her fierce love of family, and her endearing backseat driving—always reminding others to “slow down just a little, for me.”

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pearl Ericson; brothers John Ericson Sr. and James Ericson; brothers-in-law Arle Rau and Dean Knox; niece Lisa Knox Turnquist; and grandson Avrik Kirk.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over 55 years, Roger Kirk; children Brian (Jennifer) Kirk, Angela Frolik, Heidi Kirk, Eric (Jody) Kirk, and Jason (Naomi) Kirk; grandchildren Brianna, James, John, Ares, Arawyn, Liam, and Avren; sisters Judy Rau, Joan Knox, and Janice (Steve) McCrady; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A private family service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A luncheon for friends and family will follow at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army are preferred.

Jean’s warmth, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
