Michael Morson, Jr. Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce our Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, Uncle and Friend, Michael (Mike/Mondo) Morson Jr. gave us his final “10-4 over and out” on October 4, 2025.

Known for being a uniquely gentle and kind man, he put his huge heart into anything he pursued.

Born in St. Paul on January 27, 1942, a Graphic Artist by profession, he was more than just his career. A father figure to many, wood carving aficionado, photographer, Boy Scout leader, professional camper, captivating storyteller and wilderness guru who took pride in his immaculate garage and left us with a plethora of quotes.

A simple chunk of wood was easily transformed into a work of art. He kept his knives sharp and his fingers out of the way. Talented at finding beauty in the unexpected through the lens of his camera. His knot skills were top notch even if just teaching his scouts how to tie a necktie. An avid camping gear Tetris player especially for annual trips to Marengo. If we forgot a tool, he would make one using wood, duct tape or anything he had in his trunk box. He could captivate an audience with stories and fascinating factoids. He taught us which leaves were safe to touch, how to survive in the wild and that if you are cold, you should probably put a hat on.

Mike was a loving husband to his wife of 52 years, Betty. An inspiration to his children Liz (Cal), Rebecca (Chris), Molly (Alan), Andrew (Lyndsey) and Megan (Mario). A mentor to his grandchildren Ellisa, Brandon, Kelly, Quinn, Ethan, Ella, Greta, Finn, Henry, Lyla, Kaylee and Miles, and touched the lives of many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Michael Jerome Morson Sr., mother Lois and brothers Mark and John.

Join us in honoring his life on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at St Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave S, Mpls, MN with a visitation starting at 10:00am and services at 11:00am CST, followed by lunch.
