Jeannine Louise “GG” (Spilman) Larson, age 75, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, formerly of Glenwood City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie, surrounded by her loving family.
Jeannine was born on February 2, 1950, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Kenneth Eugene and Mary Madonna (Munt) Spilman. She grew up with her sisters and brother on the East side of St. Paul and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1968.
In her early years, Jeannine married Dale Leo Dickhausen. They shared many years of marriage and raised seven beautiful children: Matthew, Benjamin (Melissa), Sarah, Rebecca (Scott), Joseph (Michele), Ruth (Dan), and Jonathan (Jen). Her children and the family they built together were always the center of her life.
In 1998, Jeannine married Clifford Bennett “Sonny” Larson. Sonny was not only her husband, but truly her best friend and companion. Their years together were filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to one another. They enjoyed spending time together, whether it was driving around and seeing the sights, enjoying good food (Mexican was a favorite), or watching the Green Bay Packers.
Throughout her life, she worked as a medical secretary and a cook in hospitals and nursing homes, and most recently as a cook at Birchhaven Assisted Living in Baldwin, Wisconsin before retiring. She loved cooking and baking for her family and others, the smell of fragrant flowers, and time spent in nature. She had a love for music, especially listening to The Carpenters, Elvis, Crystal Gayle, Patsy Cline, and Michael Jackson. One of her favorite songs was Top of the World by The Carpenters. Over the years she traveled to Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, Texas, and Mexico. She enjoyed motorcycle rides, white-water rafting, and most of all, seeing Lake Superior as it was a very peaceful, healing place to her.
Jeannine was blessed with a large and loving family. In addition to being a caring mother, she was a proud and loving grandmother to Danielle (Devon), Taylor, Jake, Carter, Michael (Annika), Kallan (Baylie), Thomas, Jack, Gabriel, Samuel, Lance, Madison, Annalia, Sophie, McKenzie, Caden, Kate, Byron, James, Liam, and Loretta, and great-grandmother to Isaac, Imogen, Wren Lee Rose, Parker Casey, and Leonardo. She was also a beloved sister to Kathleen, Steven, Roseann, Susan, Donna, and Diana. In addition, she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her warmth and generosity. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary, and her son-in-law Scott.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Macalester Plymouth United Church, 1658 Lincoln Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55105. A luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Macalester Plymouth United Church.
