Yun Li Obituary

Yun Li

Passed away on October 16, 2025, at M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital at the age of 53. She was a resident of Bemidji, Minnesota. Born on November 26, 1971, in Handan, Hebei, China, she was the loving daughter of Junqing Li and Yuemei Liu.

Yun earned her Bachelor’s and Medical degrees from Chengde School of Medicine in 1994. Using her gifts and talents, she was dedicated to many wonderful roles, including Family Physician, Tai Chi Instructor, Acupuncturist, and Food Service Lead.

Throughout her life, she was part of many wonderful church communities as she and her husband moved frequently. She was baptized at London Mandarin Alliance Church in Ontario, Canada. She attended Mandarin Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California; West Virginia Chinese Baptist Church in Charleston, West Virginia; Platteville United Methodist Church in Platteville, Wisconsin; First Baptist Church in Bemidji, Minnesota; Calvary Chapel in Bemidji, Minnesota; and Chinese Christian Church of Woodbury in Woodbury, Minnesota.

She was known for her joyful humor, gentle spirit, and kind heart. Her faith and trust in God were at the center of her life; she was active in Bible study groups and prayer meetings. She also loved writing testimonies and stories about her faith, which she shared proudly and sincerely.

Always eager to learn new things, she had a passion for the arts, spending hours painting and drawing. She also loved tending to her garden, transforming even the smallest square footage into bountiful food for her family and finding peace among her flowers and plants. She taught herself sewing and tailoring, and her family still treasures her handiwork.

A gifted cook, she delighted family and friends with her delicious traditional Chinese dishes. She often opened her home to students and visiting scholars for warm, home-cooked meals. On occasion, she ran her own farmers market stand where she sold baked goods, mooncakes, and free-range chicken eggs. When she lived in Wisconsin, she even baked communion bread for church.

At home, she was a loving wife to her husband Baozhong, and a caring mother to her daughters Lucy and Maria and her son-in-law Joseph. She also doted on her beloved dogs, Le Le and Dian Dian, and her cat, Ping Ping, who brought her endless laughter.

Above all, she loved the Lord and cherished every moment spent with her family, who will remember her love, laughter, and generosity.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Yuemei Liu. She is survived by her husband Baozhong Tian of Bemidji and Maplewood, Minnesota. They were married 29 years. She is also survived by her father Junqing Li and her stepmother Shuping Nie of Shijiazhuang, China; her brother Wei Li of Shijiazhuang, China; her nephew Yansong Li and his wife Meixi of Tianjin, China; and her children Lucy Tian-Delamerced and her husband Joseph of New Britain, Connecticut; and Maria Tian of Bemidji, Minnesota.
