Sharon Kay Olson (Luebke), age 72, of Bloomington, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2025. Sharon was born on June 25, 1953, in Minneapolis, MN, to parents Norman and Ardith Luebke. She was married to her husband Rick for 40 years and they loved their cats Billy I and Billy II. Her nicknames were Peanut, Missy Kay, Miss America, and Sunshine. Sharon and Rick, and their parents, along with an aunt and two uncles, are together now having the best party ever.
Sharon played the piano, was a church camp counselor, and was in the Miss Teenage Minnesota pageant. She was active in band, Red Cross, Latin Club, and National Honor Society when she graduated from Edina High School in 1971. She went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in speech-communication. She was active in her sorority Kappa Alpha Theta and held the offices of archivist and social chairman. While in school she worked at Dayton’s Southdale, and at McNamara’s Lounge on the U of M campus. Her huge love for sports was shown by her jobs with the Gophers, MN Kicks, Vikings, and Sports Journal. She then worked in insurance claims at Home Insurance Company and Red Owl before suffering a head trauma in 1984. She spent the remaining years as a homemaker before residing at Martin Luther Care Center (MLCC) in 2016. She loved cooking and baking chocolate chip cookies, entertaining, flower gardening, volunteering at Abbott Hospital, and was known to remember just about everyone’s birthday and anniversary by a phone call or a card. While at MLCC she attended every worship service and most activities (especially Bingo), and she deeply touched the lives of both residents and staff. They held a remembrance service a couple days after her passing to grieve and share their memories of her smile, always wanting to chat, sassy wit, great sense of humor, and most of all for being a wonderful friend.
Sharon left behind her ‘baby’ sister Cindy Luebke Camp (Greg Camp), first-born niece Gretchen Taylor (Chuck) and their son Dylan, step-niece Megan Williams (Graham), and only nephew Grant ‘Bud’ Alpers. Cindy and Sher have so many fun memories growing up together and sharing holidays with their uncles, aunts and cousins. They enjoyed taking family vacations and of course going out to nice restaurants. Gretchen and Grant loved their silly Aunt Sherry and miss pizza and game nights with her. She also left behind Rick’s sister Sheryl Olson, two more nieces Lilly Schoenleben (Tom) and Hannah Gimpel (Evan), along with four more grandnephews. Sheryl was a devoted friend and looked forward to their daily talks. Sharon loved her family dearly and will be missed by all.
